U of T is transforming how we work, to advance how we teach and discover.

Project Catalyst is a university-wide, multi-year program to modernize how we work: better tools, better data, simpler processes and new skills for our people. It’s about investing in staff, not cutting jobs, so we can serve our academic mission better.

Project Catalyst is how we make the everyday work of the university simpler, smarter and more rewarding for the people who do it.

It starts with you. Catalyzer Training gives our staff practical skills in process improvement, data, AI and resilience, so that together we can spend less time on workarounds and more time on what matters: our students, our research and each other.

What is Project Catalyst?

Project Catalyst is an institution-wide, multi-year operational excellence program. Today, too much of our work runs on fragmented systems, manual processes and unclear service pathways, with limited access to the data we need.

Catalyst brings these together under four pillars and seven guiding principles, always putting the academic mission first. Its first initiative, Catalyzer Training, invests in the skills of the people who make the university run.
